Process and Technologies

There has never been a better time to embark on a custom software development project. Tools and methodologies have improved over the last decade, and there are an abundance of worthy options to choose from when considering which technology stack is the best fit for the project. If you need to address an issue that can't be solved effectively by off the shelf software, you don't have to compromise. Custom software can be robust, affordable, and delivered on time.

AccessTools specializes in rapid application development, informed by years of experience creating special solutions for a diverse group of clients. We have focused on practices and technologies which help us actualize applications which are well shaped to our clients needs, are productive, and cost effective.

Our engagement process usually starts with an exchange of ideas and questions. Your ideas about the business processes that need to be addressed; our questions to you as we gain insight into your world. Our ideas of the possible routes to a solution; your questions about how they might fit with the reality of your business environment. It's a back and forth exchange that usually generates some sparks on both sides as the possibilities open up and the gears start to turn.

If you need a well thought out solution that gets done on time and on budget, consider working with AccessTools.

Some of the technologies with which we are fluent:

  • Microsoft Access
Access is simply the most productive database front end on the planet. Access sometimes gets a bad rap because it's native database engine (JET) is somewhat fragile in comparison with fully featured server databases like Oracle or SQL Server, but let it do it's thing on the user interface side and it's appeal becomes apparent. Use it with Terminal Services and you have an efficient and affordable long range solution. Tha's particularly true when you're starting point is a mature application framework like the one we've developed.

  • Terminal Services/Remote Desktop
Terminal Services is a server technology that allows desktop or client server applications to be shared with remote computers via Remote Desktop. It's a great way to get an application distributed worldwide in short order.

  • Visual WebGUI
An up and coming .Net framework that allows browser based applications to be built more like winforms apps. Read: faster to build and nicer to use.

  • Microsoft SQL Server and PostgresSQL
Two really great relational database systems that manage your data and keep it safe.
